Salary: £35,000+, negotiable depending on experience ·
Level: Minimum 3+ years’ production experience ·
Reports to: Director of Programming ·
Closing date: November 9, 2026
We will give you a brief, not a manual. What you do with it is the job.
FUBAR is not a conventional talk radio station, and this is not a conventional producer role. You will take full ownership of a slate of three shows each week, each delivering two to three hours of broadcast output. From editorial direction and talent management to audience growth, social distribution and commercial potential, you will be accountable for the complete life of every programme. We are looking for a self-starter with the judgement to spot what will work, the confidence to act on it and the resilience to learn quickly when it does not.
About FUBAR Radio
FUBAR Radio launched in 2014 to make the talk, comedy and entertainment that licensed radio would not touch. We are Britain’s biggest live podcast network, bringing established talent and emerging voices together for an 18-to-34 audience. FUBAR is punk, irreverent, honest and opinionated—but always professionally produced. Our test is simple: if audiences can hear it somewhere else, we do not make it. In 2027, FUBAR will expand onto national DAB, taking our distinctive output to a wider audience while continuing our uncensored online service.
What you'll do
* Own three shows each week, end to end. Take responsibility for booking, running orders, directing talent, recording, editing, compliance, scheduling and publishing across programmes of two to three hours each. Set the strategy, review performance quarterly and make the decisions required to improve them.
* Know what makes each show work. What it's really about, who it's for, and what can be said here that couldn't be said on a regulated station. Protect that in every booking, question and clip.
* Make new things. Pitch, develop and pilot formats, segments and shows that pass our test: if you can hear it somewhere else, we don't do it.
* Book with an angle. It is not enough simply to accept a PR’s push for a guest who is doing the rounds. A famous name alone is not a booking strategy. Build your own network of agents and publicists, find the question nobody else will ask, identify the interview nobody else has done and look after every guest so they want to return.
* Direct high-profile talent. Keep presenters and guests where it's most interesting for the listener and be the listener's advocate when the chat drifts into in-jokes.
* Treat transmission as the halfway point. A show does not end when it leaves the studio. Identify the moments with a life beyond the live programme, then develop clips, social posts, follow-up conversations, press angles and audience activity that extend its reach for days or weeks.
* Build audiences and commercial value. Understand how social media drives discovery, conversation and loyalty. Work directly with presenters and colleagues to market each programme, report growth honestly and create shows that audiences, press and sponsors want to be part of.
* Plan beyond the next broadcast. Manage three weekly shows. Balance immediate production demands with a clear pipeline of guests, formats, clips and promotional opportunities.
* Make it well. Edit in Adobe Audition to house standard and put everything through a legal check before it airs.
* Help shape FUBAR’s national DAB launch. From 2027, our national DAB output will run alongside the uncensored internet stream. Plan every episode for both audiences so the Ofcom-compliant version works as a complete programme rather than a compromised edit.
What the role offers
FUBAR operates without the layers of a large broadcaster or a large marketing and promotions department supporting every show. That means greater responsibility: producers are expected to identify opportunities, mobilise the right people and carry ideas through from first pitch to sustained audience impact.
It also means greater opportunity. You will work closer to the creative and commercial decisions, build a broader range of skills and see the direct results of your judgement. For ambitious producers, the role offers visibility, genuine influence and a path to advancement that can be difficult to find within a more conventional media structure.
What you'll bring
* At least three years producing top-quality shows, in talk-radio, podcasts or both.
* You can turn FUBAR’s mission and values into distinctive programming, and you have the editorial instinct to recognise an idea, guest or moment with the potential to travel.
* You're confident with high-profile talent: warm, supportive, honest and never starstruck.
* You have grown a show through audience development, social media, press, reputation or revenue, and you can explain clearly what you changed and what happened as a result.
* You are a genuine self-starter. You take a brief, set a direction, solve problems and maintain momentum without waiting for a large support structure to do it for you.
* You are resilient, organised and open to direct creative feedback. Pressure does not compromise your standards, and criticism makes the work sharper rather than the conversation harder.
* You're comfortable with strong language and frank subject matter, and you know enough media law (defamation, contempt, copyright) to keep a show uncensored without getting it sued.
* You can edit a conversation, so it sounds brilliant without sounding edited.
Bonus points
* Adobe Audition, Zetta, podcast hosting and publishing tools.
* Creating social-first video and audio that turns broadcast moments into sustained reach and engagement.
* Press releases that get picked up.
* Launching a new show: pilot, branding and launch campaign.
* An existing network of agents and publicists.
* Producing for Ofcom-licensed radio and knowing the Broadcasting Code.
